Human Resources Director Job Description

Job Overview 

The HR Director will play a critical role in developing and implementing comprehensive human resources strategies that support our company's mission, values, and growth objectives. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong interpersonal and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities 

Talent Acquisition and Recruitment  

Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and create targeted job descriptions 

Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from job posting to onboarding 

Conduct interviews and assess candidates with the hiring managers 

Employee Relations and Communication  

Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns 

Investigate and resolve workplace conflicts and issues 

Ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws in all states where employees live/work 

Mediate disputes and provide guidance on professional conduct 

Manage employee off-boarding and identification of improvement areas 

Performance Management  

Design and implement performance evaluation processes 

Develop performance improvement plans for positive employee development and progressive discipline 

Track and analyze employee performance metrics 

Support managers in conducting effective performance reviews 

Compensation and Benefits  

Collaborate with PEO to ensure employee benefit questions and issues are addressed quickly and effectively 

Research and recommend competitive compensation packages and benefits plans 

Administer employee benefits programs 

Conduct biannual market analysis of salary and benefits trends 

Manage annual compensation review process 

Maintain and update employee handbook 

Training and Development  

Identify skill gaps and develop training materials and activities 

Support leadership development initiatives, including succession planning 

HR Policy and Compliance  

Stay current with applicable employment laws and regulations 

Develop and update HR policies and procedures 

Ensure organizational compliance with legal requirements 

Maintain accurate and confidential employee records 

Diversity and Inclusion  

Promote and implement diversity and inclusion initiatives consistent with B Corp certification requirements 

Monitor and report on diversity metrics 

Support employee resource groups and diversity training 

Qualifications 

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field 

5-7 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a similar industry 

Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) preferred 

Advanced knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws, particularly with respect to employee-owned companies. 

Experience managing human resource issues across multiple states 

Experience managing hybrid and remote work policies, ensuring productivity and employee well-being 

Knowledge of or experience working with PEOs. 

Strong proficiency in HRIS systems and HR software 

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities 

High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
